Steve and Leslie Kaczeus celebrate exporting beer from Bootstrap Brewing to Europe.

Booststrap Brewing announced on Thursday that it shipped a pallet of its beer to Beer Republic — a company based in the Netherlands and Great Brands of Sweden. The beer will be served in bars and restaurants and sold in stores in the coming weeks.

Steve and Leslie Kaczeus traveled to Italy to visit family. While there they attended a Brewer’s Association Beer + Food Attraction in Rimini. Steve Kaczeus spoke during a press workshop during the event.

The couple also met with importers and distributors who encouraged the couple to send over samples of their beer.

“For the initial launch, we wanted all eight styles of Bootstrap’s canned products so we can introduce our customers to their full product line and see which ones are favored,” explained Steven van Eendenburg van Oosterhout of Beer Republic.

In April, the couple learned that two of their beers — the Medal AF IPA and Wreak Havoc Imperial Red — won placements in the Systembolaget’s tender, according to a news release from Bootstrap Brewing. The Systembolaget tender is Sweden’s state-owned retail monopoly that is run by the country.

“This is absolutely fantastic news for a brand-new supplier that has never shipped into our market to win 2 placements straight out of the gate,” explained Jörgen Hasselqvist, owner of Great Brands. “We’re excited to work with Bootstrap to promote their products in Sweden, Finland and Norway in the coming months.”

The Kaczeuses enjoy traveling and want to expand their reach to other countries across the globe.

“We love to travel, and this new marketing emphasis is a perfect way to sell more beer while visiting countries we enjoy exploring,” said Leslie Kaczeus.
