Students from Frederick High School are gearing up to perform “Mamma Mia” from April 12-20.

The play is one of the most produced shows for high school students across the country. Fifty years ago, ABBA, a Swedish pop supergroup, won the EuroVision Song Writing Competition with the song “Waterloo.” “Mamma Mia” debuted 25 years ago.

The plot of the play includes Sophie’s — a 20-year-old bride-to-be — search for her father. She discovers three men who have the potential to be her dad after reading her mother’s diary. She invites all three men to her wedding, unbeknownst to her mother.

The play will run for five nights at 7 p.m. with a closing matinee at 2 p.m. on April 20. Tickets are $15.
