In this episode of Talk with Longmont Leaders, Scott Converse sits down with Gary Ellison to discuss the Master Police Officer Program.

Ellison is a Longmont resident who became interested in learning how the police department operates and seized an opportunity to attend the Citizen's Police Academy. A few weeks later he was asked to participate on the police department board specifically on the Master Police Officer process.

Each year, Longmont police officers are given to opportunity to apply for the master police officer title, provided they meet criteria established by the Longmont Police Department (LPD).

As the only citizen on this board, among a group of police officers, Ellison has been afforded a rare opportunity to see all the things LPD does in the name of service. "I have a different view point of officers than I did years ago," states Ellison.

If you have any questions, Ellison offers his email, [email protected].
