During these days of isolation, we may not be able to see in person the final days of the Longmont Museum’s current exhibition Because the World is Round by Terry Maker, but the  Stewart Auditorium’s manager, Justin Veach, will moderate a special event through the Museum website this Thursday to explain the artist behind the exhibition.

Maker’s unique perspective on the world is reflected not only in her art, but also in her home, based in an old army barracks.  Vintage furnishings and a collection of eclectic objet d’art will be highlighted in the online tour of Maker’s home, and the tour will also show her studio where Because the World is Round came into being.  If you have experienced the current exhibit, you will know that Maker enjoys working with varied materials, including straw cowboy hats!  She may use a chain saw or similar light machinery to produce her unique works of art, so her studio often spills outside the walls.

In addition to the tour, Veach will conclude the free program with a Q&A with Maker in which she will share her approach to the world through her art, as well as how she creates works that reflect her vision of the temporal and spiritual spheres.

View this free program from the Museum’s FaceBook page this Thursday, 23rd April at 7:30 pm.
