In an effort to encourage people to try the new Thursday Virtual Art and Sip classes, the Longmont Museum has waived the registration fee for the first three sessions that will focus on watercolors.

The series of three online watercolor sessions taught by Leigh Putnam starts at 7:30 p.m. today and will continue Sept. 17 and 24.  The topics will be “Rainbow Leaves,” “Forest Mushrooms” and “Night Sky in the Woods.”

Putnam will teach a few techniques in each of the three classes and has designed the sessions to instruct and inspire painters of all levels, from beginner to well-practiced.  If participants do not have their own watercolor materials, custom supply kits with everything needed to complete the three classes are available for $30.

While the fee for the classes has been waived, registration is still required and can be completed here. For more information, call the Museum at 303-651-8374.

Virtual Art and Sip sessions continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 19. The cost for the remainder of the sessions is $30 each or $85 for a three-class thematic bundle, plus an optional supply kit fee. The lineup is as follows:

  • Acrylic painting series — Oct. 8, 15 and 22

  • Dia de los Muertos Rock Art: Sugar Skulls, Marigolds, & Monarchs — Oct. 29

  • Boho Holiday Decoration Series — Nov. 5, 12 and 19
