SVVSD- Parents of Students with Dyslexia is hosting Artful Dyslexia Awareness Project (Join our new Mentor Group) on Saturday October 7, at the Longmont Public Library 10 a.m.-Noon. It is piggy-backing off the Longmont Library's Make and Mingle event. Students are invited to create a piece of art with their peers and to meet other families.

Parent-Child Ukulele Series is featured at the Longmont Museum October 7-28, 10a.m.-noon for ages 8+. John Mieras, a local music teacher and noted songwriter, is teaching the course. Registration is required, the class is $90/person (494313). Register online here.

A gigantes building workshop is being held October 7,14 and 21, 3-5p.m., for ages 7-12 at the Longmont Museum. This is event is in preparation for the Día de los Muertos celebration and parade. During the workshop, the participants will build their own gigante from paper mache, paint, and fabric while learning about the traditions of the holiday. Cost is $120 (494314)

Longmont Museum is hosting the a concert, Una Corda on October 7, at 7:00 p.m. Musicians Lee Smith, Kat Fritz, Don Perkins, and Shieky Uno will be performing music from cultures worldwide. They meld their heritages and experiences to play several genres of music including: classics, tango, Asian and American fold, fiddle, blue grass and jazz.

Longmont Farmers Market at the Boulder County Fairgrounds October 7, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. A growers-only market, which features locally grown and produced food products and local artisans. There a free activities for children weekly and live music from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Walk to Remember at Longmont United Hospital on October 7 at 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Join Longmont United Hospital Birthplace, family and friends who have experienced a miscarriage, still birth, or other infant death to attend their annual Walk to Remember. They invite all those who have lost a baby at anytime during their life to join in remembering and honoring each child. Registration starts at 9:30 am and the program begins at 10:00 am. This event is free.

PawsCo Pet Food Drive Kickoff, Bellco Credit Union (Longmont, CO) on October 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Longmont branch of Bellco will be accepting pet food donations through the month of October. The event kicks off on Saturday with dog adoptions, food, music, and fun for the entire family. A pet photographer will also be present.
