The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) announced on Wednesday afternoon that a shooting had occurred at Evergreen High School. The department said that at least two students were shot. In an urgent alert, Jeffcom 911 announced the incident at around 12:40 p.m.
According to a report by FOX31, a spokesperson for CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood said that three people involved in the incident are in the hospital in critical condition.
The school entered a lockdown during the incident. Parent-student reunification began at Burgen Meadow Elementary around 1:30 p.m.
Governor Jared Polis released a statement on Wednesday afternoon, saying that he is "closely monitoring the situation at Evergreen High School, and getting live updates. State Troopers are supporting local law enforcement in responding to this situation. Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation. We are all praying for the victims and the entire community."
