The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) announced on Tuesday morning that they had recovered a deceased person, believed to be a missing paddleboarder, in Horsetooth Reservoir late on Monday evening. The body was found the day after a report was filed of a missing paddleboarder at Horsetooth Reservoir, near Satanka Cove.

Larimer County Parks, Poudre Fire Authority, LCSO deputies, LCSO Emergency Services, Colorado Parks and Wildlife units and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team responded to the area to search for the missing person on Sunday and Monday. LCSO said that crews searched the area where the paddleboarder was last seen, and utilized drones, boats, and sonar in an attempt to locate them. The paddleboarder was not wearing a personal flotation device.

The manner of death and identity of the deceased will be released at a later time by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office, as the investigation is still underway according to the LCSO. No other information about the incident is available at this time.

Horsetooth Reservoir was closed for a period of time due to the recovery, and has since reopened.
