On Tuesday at around 3:17 p.m., two Weld County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies were injured during a firearms training at the Sam Brownlee Training Center in Carr. The WCSO announced the incident at around 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday evening on social media and in a news release.
The WCSO said that the incident occurred at the end of the training session when deputies were no longer on the firing line. While securing their gear, a deputy discharged their firearm and injured themselves and one other deputy, and both individuals were taken to the hospital. The WCSO said that the injuries are not life threatening.
There is no danger to the public, the WCSO said, and the incident is under an internal investigation by the sheriff’s office. The identities of the deputies involved and additional details have not been released by the WCSO.
