Tim Waters is a candidate for the vacant Longmont City Council seat in Ward 1.  He is a quality individual who has a solid resume for filling this city council opening.  His professional experience as an educator which includes his superintendency of the Greeley public schools, service on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and 20 years as president and CEO of Mid-continental Regional Education Laboratory (McREL) International, positions him well for filling the Ward 1 council position which is vacant.  We say this because of his personal and professional skills for providing leadership, promoting teamwork and offering sound thinking, perspectives and opinions.  For the benefit of the Longmont community, Tim would advocate for compromise but he also would  maintain a position on an issue and try to persuade others to his way of thinking if he felt this approach was truly best for our city.
Knowing Tim for several years, we have found him to be an engaging individual who highly values his family and possesses a variety of interests and passions, none greater than his desire to help improve the quality of life for all members of our diverse Longmont community.  Priority issues that Tim would help to address as a councilman include:  support for strict oil and gas extraction regulations and agreements that would protect the health and safety of our citizens;  advocating for measures that address the issue of growth in Longmont in a realistic and practical manner that benefit all residents and; accessibility for people who want to live in the city but need affordable housing.
Because of all of the above and the fact that Tim truly cares about others,  is an active listener, possesses an impressive intellect and is focused on helping to improve supports and services in Longmont, he is “the right choice” to fill the Ward 1 Longmont City Council vacancy.
