Twin Peaks Rotary is hosting their first ever lawn party on Saturday with the Wash Park Funk Band.

The dance under the stars will raise money for scholarships, meals at OUR Center and leadership training for middle and high school students, Twin Peaks Rotary Public Image Chair Charlene Santala Gearing explained.

“We’re just hoping that people will come out so we can have a successful fundraiser and continue to do the things that we love doing,” she said.

Santala Gearing added that Wash Park is a favorite band of the Twin Peaks Rotary Club, and the band typically performs at their holiday ball fundraiser. After the pandemic hit and canceled the 2020 and 2021 events, the Rotary Club decided it couldn’t wait any longer to hear this band.

“It’s a bit of a risk, but we’re going to try an outside dance because this is just an amazing band, and why not?” she said.

Despite not being able to host their annual fundraiser in the past couple years, Twin Peaks Rotary has continued to support their favorite causes. Saturday’s lawn party is a way to get everyone back together and further support the community.

“The bottom line is this is about having fun and it’s about helping us raise funds,” she said.

The event is from 7-10 p.m. and gates open at 6:30 p.m. at the Village at the Peaks’ Village Lawn, 1250 S. Hover Road. Tickets are $30 at twinpeaksrotary.org and include food from Parry’s Pizza with a cash bar available. All proceeds will benefit local Twin Peaks Rotary charities.
