Mike Foote is clearly the best qualified candidate to be Boulder County's next District Attorney. Mike arrived in Boulder County nearly 20 years ago to earn a law degree from CU. He was a prosecutor in the Boulder County DA's office for 14 years, and he has represented eastern Boulder County in the state legislature for six years. Mike knows Boulder County and the issues our community faces.
Mike understands the social and economic costs of excessive incarcerations, so he makes preventive and restorative justice programs, and juvenile programs in particular, a high priority. He'll also prioritize bail reform and immigrant protection.
As a legislator, Mike has fought passionately to control fracking, and he has pledged to use all the tools at his disposal as DA to keep up that fight. He has added sexual orientation and disability to state harassment laws; as DA he will enforce those laws vigorously. In cases of attacks on pregnant women, he worked with pro-choice groups to craft a law that allows perpetrators to be prosecuted without infringing on women's right to choose. As DA, he will continue to combine his passion for justice with his concern for women's rights--and for the rights of all--protecting the freedom and inclusivity of everyone in Boulder County.
I'm supporting Mike because he's the best candidate in the race, and his nearly unmatched record of protecting Boulder County is the proof he is up for the job of District Attorney. The Governor has attempted to foist the next DA upon us by appointment. Fortunately, the election process gives voters the opportunity to have the final word, but we must make our choice heard, starting with the June Primary. My choice is Mike Foote.
