Demonstrated passion for Longmont is one of many reasons why I am endorsing Josh Goldberg for Ward I City Council.

Josh will bring fresh energy and ideas to City Council, not partisan politics. What Longmont does not need is an ideologue advancing a personal agenda. Josh is the cure for the partisan group-think and he will challenge the status quo to be inclusive in policy making. His ability to listen to all sides of the issues will encourage discussions of ideas from different perspectives.

One way Josh has contributed to Longmont is through his charitable work. The OUR Center, Habitat for Humanity, Safe Shelter, The Inn Between, A Woman’s Work, I Have A Dream, HOPE, Meals on Wheels, and more non-profits have benefitted from his selfless effort. Josh truly portrays the motto on the council chamber’s wall: You Belong in Longmont.

Council sets policy, as Josh has done serving the community on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Longmont Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Longmont. He has a complete understanding of issues unique to Longmont. He understands the intersection of the needs of people, impact of growth and the importance of attracting business to Longmont. His balanced approach to problem solving will benefit Longmont. He wants his three year old daughters to grow up in an exciting community.

Josh’s leadership style is one of consensus building and is solution driven. Having served on City Council, I recognize in Josh an understanding of the role City Council plays in building and maintaining the framework of our community, a role that the other candidates have not demonstrated an understanding of.

Without hesitation, I urge Ward I voters to cast your ballot for Josh Goldberg. His proven commitment to Longmont will bring talent, energy, fresh ideas, and inclusivity to City Council.
