Let me tell you why I strongly support Tim Waters in the upcoming Ward 1 City Council election. I’m most concerned that Longmont remains a city we can all enjoy living in. We don’t want a city overrun by uncontrolled development, which profits only a few people while disregarding the quality of life for the rest of us. Tim is committed to sustainable development, which balances people, planet and profit to protect our environment and our enjoyable way of life.

Tim believes the City Council needs to re-establish a set of quality of life benchmarks, including traffic, by which all annexation and development applications will be measured. Sustainable development applications would receive approval. Applications that exploit people or the environment would require more examination.

That’s just common sense. It’s a win-win-win approach. It’s a shame that our City Council abandoned this approach a few years ago. But it’s exciting to have a candidate who promises to do his best to restore it, once he is on the Council.

If you look at Tim Waters’ professional record, you see an impressive record of ambitious goals set and achieved. There’s every reason to think that, as a City Council member, Tim would achieve this goal too. That’s one of the many reasons why he should be elected.\
