Carjacker arrested on 11 charges

A man who stole a car at gunpoint and led police on a car chase that ended in a park with him accidentally shooting himself in the leg has been transported to Boulder County Jail after being released from the hospital.

On Tuesday, a Longmont man identified as Dylan J. Garbino, 30, allegedly attempted two carjackings at gunpoint and was successful with the second. According to police, he then led police on a car chase that ended in a park, causing Garbino’s airbags to deploy and accidentally shooting the gun he was holding at his leg.

Garbino was transported to a local hospital, where he was later arrested on 11 charges including two counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of felony menacing, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, vehicular eluding, possession of less than four grams of a controlled substance, prohibited use of a weapon, reckless driving and hit and run.

He has been transported to Boulder County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
