Earlier in the month, a call was received by the Greeley Police Department in which the caller reported that her boyfriend was hitting her friend with a shovel.

The shovel broke in half during the assault which prompted the boyfriend to threaten the friend that he was going to kill the friend.

The boyfriend already had pending charges of second-degree Assault and Domestic Violence from a previous incident that involved the caller.

Before police could arrive at the scene the boyfriend had fled. Officers then assisted the friend who was taken to a nearby hospital for multiple injuries. The friend is expected to recover, according to the Weld County Sheriff's Office.

An arrest warrant was obtained by the Greeley Police who continued to search for the boyfriend. Three days later, officer found the boyfriend in a home in the Hill-N-Park neighborhood of Weld County.

The Greeley Police asked for the assistance of the Weld County Sheriff's Office Strike Team which set up a surveillance of the location and discovered the boyfriend inside a home.

After a four-hour negotiation over the phone, the boyfriend surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody. He now faces charges from both incidents which include an attempt of second-degree murder and second-degree assault, both of which are felonies. He was also charged with two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
