A man was arrested for domestic violence causing an increased police presence at Cedar Court and Purdue Drive.

On Saturday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was called regarding an alleged domestic violence incident.

The female victim stated a physical altercation took place on Saturday at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. During this altercation, the suspect would not allow the victim to leave the vehicle.

When the victim eventually managed to leave the vehicle, the suspect allegedly attempted to run her over with his vehicle, according to Carrie Haverfield, the Public Information and Community Outreach Specialist for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies later visited the suspects home — where the seriousness of the alleged crimes warranted SWAT teams to be deployed, according to Haverfield.

An Everbridge alert to shelter in place was issued to several of the surrounding houses at 7:20 a.m. and was lifted at 4:49 p.m.

The suspect was later found at another associated residence and arrested. The suspect was charged with Felony Menacing, Domestic Violence, Third Degree Assault, Second Degree Kidnapping, Obstruction of Telephone, Violation of a Restraining Order and Criminal Mischief.
