Man arrested for making false report about explosive device

A 24-year-old man was arrested after calling the Longmont Police Department about an explosive device, but was really just drunk. 

The Longmont Police Department was notified of a possible explosive at the 400 block of Main Street on  Sunday. There turned out to be no explosive device, but a drunk man making a false report. 

After arriving on scene the officer spoke to employees at the address, all of the employees stated they had no knowledge of the explosive device, according to Robin Ericson the communications and marketing manager at the LPD. 

The Longmont Emergency Communications Center, or LECC, advised the officer that the reporting party was calling from the parking lot to the east of the address. The officer was able to make contact with the reporting party who was found to be intoxicated. 

Staff from the retail establishment stated the reporting party was kicked out of their store earlier in the evening. 

The 24-year-old Longmont male was arrested for making a false report of an explosive device. 

The male has been transported to the Boulder County Jail, while on the way he damaged the interior of the patrol car.
