Lamplighter Motel in Longmont

A man was stabbed in the head on Friday after an altercation broke out at the Lamplighter Motel, at 1642 Main St.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Longmont Police Department, Carlos Gonzales was seen by a witness fighting another man outside the motel. The parties were separated but a second fight began sometime later.

During the second fight, Gonzales pulled a folding knife out of his pocket and stabbed the victim in the head.

The victim was transported to the hospital after police officers arrived. His condition is unknown.

Gonzales confessed to officers that he had cut the victim's head.

"Carlos stated that he had done so in the heat of the moment and had not been trying to kill (the victim) and was simply trying to cut him," the affidavit states.

Gonzales was arrested and taken to the Boulder County Jail.
