On Wednesday, shots were heard in the 00 block of 21st Avenue. Residents in the area claimed the shots were aimed into the air and into the front yard of a nearby home.
As far as police could tell during their investigation of the incident, the shots didn’t hit anything or anyone, according to Robin Ericson, the communications and marketing manager of LPD. Officers located at least one bullet’s shell casing at the scene.
Police obtained surveillance video from a residence in the area, which revealed a red, four-door sedan — guessed to be a Chevy Malibu or Impala — driving through the area when the shots were fired.
Camera footage from another residence in the area captured video of a passenger’s arm extended out the window of the sedan, holding what appeared to officers to be a black handgun, Ericson said.
LPD is asking for anyone who was a witness of the incident or who may have additional surveillance video in the area to please contact Longmont police at 303-651-8501 and reference case #22-3857.
