A "sexually violent predator" who Longmont police had been looking for since February was arrested Wednesday morning in Indiana.

Nathaniel Kyle Stark, 25, was taken into custody outside a Greyhound bus about an hour from Indianapolis, Robin Ericson, Longmont Public Safety communications and marketing manager, said in an email.

He will be extradited back to Colorado to face Boulder County charges, which include two counts of failure to register as a sex offender, and three warrants for failure to appear on additional charges, according to Ericson’s email.

“An astute citizen was able to provide a tip which allowed law enforcement to locate him,” Ericson said. “We cannot thank this incredible community enough for their assistance in being additional eyes and ears.”

Police on Feb. 2 announced their efforts to find Stark in a Facebook post, which stated he “was last known to be transient, and his current whereabouts are unknown.”

Stark, who is being supervised by Boulder County Probation, was convicted of aggravated incest on a family member younger than 10 and three counts of sexual contact without consent, according to a December Facebook post from police that announced he was staying in Longmont. Colorado law requires police departments to publicly share information about parties determined to be sexually violent predators and the post was part of that compliance, police stated.

Stark also was arrested in March 2020 on suspicion of two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and three misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, according to the Longmont Times-Call.
