Just after midnight on Tuesday, the Longmont Police Department responded to a call about gunshots being heard in the 800 block of Summer Hawk Drive.

Upon police’s arrival, witnesses reported seeing a male in the field located west of the address with what they thought was a gun in his waistband, said Sergeant Carry McDonald with the Longmont Police Department. Several shell casings were recovered at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the male suspect go into an apartment building in the area. Police approached one apartment and attempted to establish contact with the suspect without success.

According to McDonald, police are still trying to determine which apartment the suspect walked into.

As of now, “there is no threat to the community at large,” McDonald said.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Longmont Police Department at 303-651-8555.
