The Weld County Sheriff's Office today announced that it caught its most wanted fugitive, Colton Thompson.

Thompson has been the most wanted fugitive since March 2. He was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for second-degree assault "stemming from a domestic violence incident," a post from the Weld County Sheriff's Office states. Additionally, he was the focus of other criminal investigations throughout northern Colorado.

Deputies were alerted Saturday that Thompson was seen at the Greeley Mall, however, they were unable to find him. After an extensive search of the area, Thompson was located at a nearby shopping center.

The Weld County Strike Team attempted to contact Thompson who ran to his truck. After a brief foot chase, deputies arrested Thompson.

It was later discovered that Thompson was driving a pickup that had been reported stolen from Thornton.

Thompson was taken to Weld County Jail with a $50,000 bond set.
