An accident on Ervine Avenue in Longmont led to a fire and an uninhabitable house.

Around 8:12 a.m. on Saturday, Longmont Police and Fire crews were sent to the 1500 block of Ervine Ave.

The first responders found a woman outside the home who stated she caused the fire when she tried to light an object with a match. She said the matchhead fell to floor onto some papers which caught fire.

The fire spread quickly, forcing the woman to escape. No injuries were reported, however, the home was deemed uninhabitable until the city inspector is able to evaluate it, according to Robin Ericson, spokesperson for Longmont Public Safety.
