Although Longmont Startup Week (LSW) 2018 is a little over two months away, the Longmont Economic Development Partnership (LEDP) is hosting an informal get together for people to see what's in store for this year's event.

"We're showing off a lot of the infrastructure of Longmont Startup Week 2018," said Ariel Wishkovsky, event manager for Longmont Startup Week and economic development specialist for LEDP.

"The big notes this year being that it is a bilingual event, the app production with GooWee, and the inclusivity factors with women and entrepreneurs, but also those with special needs."

It will also be an engagement opportunity for the public to get involved and talk with the LSW committee members, planning members, staff, LEDP and LEDP partners, said Wishkovsky.

"It's also time for us, the leaders of the event to portray where we've come from, what we are doing, and where we plan on going."

In addition to beer, people attending the event can also expect networking opportunities and a free exchange of dialogue.

"Normally, as most entrepreneurial events are, it's a very open not closed-knit community. So folks can sort of expect that it would be a time to talk about whatever they want to talk about," said Wishkovsky.

The free event will be held on Thursday, May 17th from 4-6 p.m. at 300 Suns Brewing. Longmont Startup Week 2018 will be held from July 23-27, 2018 and this year's theme is "Smarter. Together."

Blue Mountain Elementary Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Written by Longmont Observer's Macie May

Blue Mountain Elementary celebrated their 10th anniversary last Thursday, May 10, 2018, by inviting the community for a picnic on the lawn. Several food trucks provided food for the event and free birthday cake was shared by all. In addition to food, families enjoyed lawn games, music and the company of friends and family.

"The community we have at this school is a true gift. We could not have pulled off this event without the help of those who volunteered to help," stated the Blue Mountain PTO in an email to parents.

The event was coordinated by the Blue Mountain Elementary PTO.
