The Summer Vibes Bike Rally & Run Fest will be held on Saturday, June 21 in Lyons, which is a rebranding of the Burning Can Fest at the Lyons Outdoor Games. The festival was a popular event that went on hiatus for five years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is returning this year under a new name. The event is organized by AdventureFit, an “experiential event marketing and production company.”

There are a myriad of events being held at the festival, including 71-mile and 31-mile gravel bike races. There will be a trail running relay sponsored by Altra, an Oskar Blue “Beer Relay,” a mixed terrain five-mile run, a trail dog five-mile run sponsored by Cemex, and a dirt jump competition. In addition to the races and competitive events, there will be live music from The Crooked Rugs, Kind Hearted Strangers, and The Goonies. Tent, car, and rooftop tent camping will be available onsite. There will also be lounge pools and saunas for event attendees to enjoy.

“We’re thrilled for Lyons to experience Summer Vibes for the first time — it’s more than a bike and running race, it’s a celebration of community, adventure and summertime in Colorado,” said Josh Kravetz, Summer Vibes Bike Rally & Run Festival founder and AdventureFit president. “From trail runs to bike jumps to music and camping, there’s something for everyone, and we couldn’t do it without the amazing support from local partners.”

Proceeds from the festival will support the Lyons Community Fund, Lyons Elevating All Fund, and Boulder Open Space Conservancy. There are several businesses sponsoring and participating in the event. Burritos will be given to all event participants, courtesy of La Mariposa. Green Goo will provide health products to winners and The Bud Depot will provide recovery options for all participants.

“Cemex is proud to be part of a vibrant, active community like Lyons, and we are thrilled to sponsor the trail dog run and support this new event,” said Michael Clausen, Cemex corporate social responsibility manager at the Lyons plant. “Events like these are a great reminder of how outdoor recreation, local business and community can all come together to create meaningful connections and new local traditions."

Campers can check in between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20. Event check in begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 and the Mountain Gravel Ride begins at 9 a.m. The first live music performance by The Goonies is at 1 p.m., followed by Kind Hearted Strangers at 3 p.m., and The Crooked Rugs at 4:30 p.m. The event ends at 6 p.m., but there will be an after party at La Mariposa starting at 7 p.m..
