Boulder County Fair Parade asking for entries

Entry deadline is July 24
County Fair Parade (30 of 35)
Crowds lined Main Street and Coffman Street for the Boulder County Fair Parade on August 7, themed Cowboy Boots with Family Roots.

The call is out for clubs, organizations and others to become part of the annual Boulder County Fair Parade, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m., starting at Roosevelt Park at 700 Longs Peak Avenue.

This year’s theme for the 153-year-old parade is “Meet Me Back At The Fair!” said Ken White, the year’s organizers of the parade on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Longmont. The Kiwanis Club has been coordinating the parade since 1959.

The fair parade is the traditional kickoff to the Boulder County Fair, which opens this year to the public on Aug. 11. Public events at the fair extend through Aug. 14.

Both the fair and parade were either shortened or canceled during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year the parade returned  with 54 entries and some years there have been more than 80 entries, White said via email.

“The only canceled parade was 2020, and things have been dicey since that lockdown, because people seem not to wish to be involved quite as much as years before,” White said.

White sent an entry form to all groups that might like to participate in the parade. The entry deadline is July 24. For more information, contact Ken White at [email protected].
