BOULDER COUNTY, CO – September 9, 2025 – Miracles Therapeutic Riding Center is seeking community support to maintain and expand the life-changing programs serving the special needs community in Boulder County and the surrounding areas. Miracles Therapeutic Riding Center is a 501c-3 non-profit organization. All of the hoedown fundraiser proceeds are used to support therapy programs and services provided to riders with a wide range of conditions. These include individuals with physical disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, and communication challenges.
"We've seen incredible transformations in our clients," says Chris Griffith. "Children who were non-verbal begin communicating with their therapy horses, riders with physical disabilities gain strength and confidence, and families discover a supportive, fun community."

The Power of Equine Therapy
Miracles Therapeutic Riding Center utilizes a herd of specially trained therapy horses – Tosca, Sammy, Fabio, Beau, Chance, Mariah, Clarice, Kimber, and Jax – each with distinct personalities suited to different therapeutic needs. The unique combination of therapeutic riding and speech therapy offered at Miracles provides clients with a multi-sensory approach to development and healing.
"There's something magical about the connection between our horses and clients," explains volunteer Whitney Newton. "A rider who struggles to speak in traditional therapy settings will often open up naturally while brushing Jax or riding gentle Chance. The horses create an environment where healing happens organically."
Community Impact and Growth
By doubling attendance at this year’s hoedown, MTRC hopes to expand their programs, potentially adding services for veterans, first responders, and a horse-powered reading program, ultimately helping to serve additional families throughout Boulder County and surrounding communities.
The organization keeps class sizes intentionally small – typically 1-2 students maximum – to ensure personalized attention and safety. This individualized approach has produced measurable results, with many clients showing significant improvements in communication, physical strength, balance, and emotional regulation.
Regional Need for Therapeutic Services
Boulder County families often travel significant distances to access specialized therapeutic riding services. MTRC fills a crucial gap in the region's therapeutic offerings, providing an alternative approach that complements traditional therapies.
"We have families driving from Broomfield, others coming from Longmont, and regular clients from Erie and Lafayette," notes Chris Griffith. "The need clearly exists throughout our region, which is why expanding our capacity is so important."
How the Community Can Help
Beyond attending the September 20th Hoedown, community members can support MTRC through:
● Volunteering: The program relies heavily on community volunteers for horse care, session assistance, and administrative support - Miracles couldn’t run without our volunteers!
● Sponsorships: Local businesses can partner with MTRC through various sponsorship levels
● Donations: Both monetary contributions and in-kind donations of equipment or services ● Spreading Awareness: Sharing information about the program with families who might benefit
