The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of someone shooting at an in-flight aircraft near Longmont’s Vance Brand Airport, according to a news release.
At approximately 7:24 p.m. on May 9, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Longmont city employee who reported having received a voice message from a caller claiming to have shot at an in-flight ultralight aircraft near Vance Brand Airport (229 Airport Road), about three miles southwest of the city’s central business district.
The sheriff’s office has been in contact with a person of interest whose identity has not been released.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
Since the sheriff’s office was originally notified, there have not been any victims or damage identified or reported, according to the news release.
“We do not have information leading us to believe there is an active threat to the aviation community utilizing the Vance Brand Longmont Municipal Airport,” the news release said.
The sheriff’s office remains in contact with Longmont Public Safety, the TSA, the FAA and the FBI as the investigation is ongoing.
