“We decided to raise money for cancer because it is good to spread awareness. I hope this 102 dollars for cancer will help you and these cookies. From: Charli.”

This is from a letter that was dropped at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital this week. The letter was written in orange crayon along with a cash donation and some cookies.

The hospital would like to share its thanks but needs help finding Charli.

“We are immensely grateful for this contribution and are eager to express our gratitude to Charli," said Ryan Rohman, president of Longs Peak Hospital and Broomfield Hospital. "This commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer is truly inspiring. Gifts like these exemplify the spirit of compassion that exists within our community.”

Although Charli has yet to be found, the hospital is using the donation wisely. The money will be put into the Longs Peak Hospital Cancer Patient and Family Assistance Fund which offer a helping hand to cancer patients.

The Longs Peak Hospital Cancer Patient and Family Assistance Fund was created in 2023 and has helped over 30 families and patients with rent/mortgage assistance, utility support and transportation costs. According to UCHealth, “financial distress is not uncommon and can limit a patient’s ability to continue treatment, leading to poor patient outcomes.”

Longs Peak Hospital Foundation set a goal to raise $50,000 to assist cancer patients this year. Charli’s donation is a small part of that but the hospital and its foundation would still like to thank Charli for their donation.
