Crews are making quick work on a grass fire in Gunbarrel but door-to-door evacuation orders have been issued. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said via Twitter that the blaze — reported to be about two acres — is near Tally Ho Trail, south of the Twin Lakes area.
“Please avoid the area. If you feel you are in danger, evacuate,” the office said on Twitter about 2:30 p.m.
“If you are in the area of Twin Lakes, please DO NOT go to try and get a look at the fire,” the sheriff’s office said on Twitter. “Avoid the area to give first responders room to work. Evacuation orders are being issued.”
“If you feel you are in danger, evacuate now, you do not need to wait to receive an evacuation order,” the sheriff’s office said.
Some door-to-door evacuation orders were given, but the Everbridge evacuation orders or warnings were not issued, because, “thankfully, firefighters were able to quickly make progress on knocking down the fire,” the sheriff’s office said via Twitter.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Red Flag Warning was issued, which prohibits open burning in Boulder County, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
