The Boulder County Coroner today identified the 22-year-old Caucasian male who died Nov. 3 at the Boulder County Jail as Avery Borkovec.

An examination has been completed and the cause and manner of Borkovec’s death is still being investigated, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

Deputies were speaking with the inmate who was in his jail cell and said he was not feeling well when the man lost consciousness, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in an earlier release.

The release said the deputies assessed the inmate and found no pulse. Along with medical staff at the jail, they began resuscitative efforts including CPR and using an AED, the sheriff’s office said.

Efforts continued until the arrival of paramedics, who transported the inmate to Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the news release states.

The sheriff’s office said no foul play is suspected and the circumstances around his death are not suspicious, adding that the death appears to have been caused by a medical issue.
