Empty Bowls auction starts tomorrow

The auction begins at 8 a.m. tomorrow

"Going once, going twice, sold," may not be the sounds heard at tomorrow's OUR Center online Empty Bowls auction but locals can still bid on their favorites.

The OUR Center, located at 220 Collyer St., hosts an annual fundraising event,Empty Bowls.

The Longmont tradition began in 2004. SInce it has become the biggest money-raising event hosted by the OUR Center annually. Before the pandemic, bowls would be purchased by attendees and would later be filled with soup donated by local restaurants.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, sharing a meal has not been possible so bowls were placed in a pop-up store in the corner of Crackpots, located at 505 Main St.

Supporters were able to purchase bowls here for the last month.

Each year, a small number of bowls are set aside for auction. This year's auction will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning and go through 5 p.m. Sunday evening.

There will be over 50 items and packages available for bid as well as a "Buy it Now" feature, according to a news release.

Winners can pick up their bowls at the OUR Center April 14-15 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. An outside area will be dedicated to getting bowls to their owners, states the news release.

Masks are required when picking up bowls.
