In preparation for upcoming construction at the Longs Peak Avenue/Atwood Street railroad crossing, Atwood Street will be closed near the intersection for one day on Thursday, June 26. Both northbound and southbound lanes of Atwood Street will be closed approximately 200 feet south of the intersection from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Construction will then switch to the north side of the intersection, closing both lanes of Atwood Street for approximately 200 feet south of Longs Peak Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Traffic will be allowed to travel east/west on Longs Peak Avenue during this time. However, through traffic on Atwood Street at the intersection will be closed.
A detour route for north/south travel on June 26 will direct traffic to Collyer Street or Baker Street.
Residents on the north side of Atwood Street will need to enter and exit properties from 8th Avenue, using the one-way street for both north/south travel during the closure on the north side of Longs Peak Avenue. Traffic control flaggers will be posted to safely direct traffic.
The sidewalks will be closed adjacent to the area under active construction. Pedestrians will need to detour to the side of Longs Peak Avenue that is opposite the construction area at either Collyer St or Baker St.
Access to Columbine Elementary School will remain open from Longs Peak Avenue.
