Longmont Library continues its commitment to providing an inclusive and vibrant space for teens by offering an exciting lineup of free events tailored specifically for those in grades 6-12. These programs aim to foster creativity, encourage curiosity, and provide a supportive community for young adults in Longmont.
From literary enthusiasts to aspiring artists, tech enthusiasts to those seeking a social space to connect, Longmont Library ensures there is something for everyone. Teens can expect a wide range of events, including but not limited to:
Teen Library Committee
- 4-5 pm, 2nd Tuesdays (Feb. 13, March 12, April 9)
- Want to help out your local Library? Join us for a monthly meeting of teens interested in having their voices heard at the Library! Help decide what teen programs the Library should offer, suggest books and movies to add to the Library, and work on creating a teen space that can better serve YOU. Great opportunity for volunteer service hours.
Pens, Prompts & Pizza — Teen Writers’ Group
- 6-7:30 pm, 2nd Tuesdays (Feb. 13, March 12, April 9)
- Spend time putting pen to paper with your peers. Build worlds, refine your OC's (original characters), write poems, or create something totally different in a friendly, no-pressure atmosphere. Once a month we'll write from a prompt to get warmed up, and then have free time to work on a piece of personal writing (and/or drawing for our visual storytellers). Pizza will be served!
Dungeons & Dragons
- 6-7:30 pm, select Tuesdays (Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 5, April 2, April 16)
- Calling all D&D lovers! 6th - 12th graders who have some experience playing Dungeons & Dragons are invited to come and play friendly campaigns. This is a teen-powered program! Participants will have to work together cooperatively to create the playing experience. Registration required at bit.ly/LibTeenEvents or call 303-651-8477.
Teen Finer Arts Club
- 4-5 pm, 4th Tuesdays (Feb. 27, March 26, April 23)
- Join us for a monthly Finer Arts Club for teens where we’ll explore different art forms and projects. Supplies and instructions will be provided for each project.
Teen Anime Club
- 5-6 pm, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays (Feb. 7, Feb. 21, March 6, March 20, April 3, April 17)
- Eat some tasty Japanese snacks while we watch anime every other week!
Teen Video Gaming Club
- 5-6 pm, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (Feb. 14, Feb. 28, March 13, March 27, April 10, April 24)
- Compete, cooperate, and collaborate on our Nintendo Switch featuring a selection of games for 4-8 players.
Procrastiknitting Teen Fiber Club
- 6-7 pm, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (Feb. 14, Feb. 28, March 13, March 27,
- Are you a knitter, crocheter, weaver, stitcher, or other fiber artist? Join us at Procrastiknitting, a Teen Fiber Club to create and hang out with other teens. No instruction or specific project provided. A small selection of tools and yarn will be available, or bring your own projects to work on!
“The Children and Teen Services staff is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space where teens can explore, learn, and connect with their peers," stated Claire Studholme, Children and Teen Services Manager at the Longmont Library. "Our goal is to offer diverse programming that empowers and inspires Longmont youth while fostering a sense of community."
