Longmont out and about: Christmas in July market

A list of local events and happenings.

Miracle on Fourth Avenue: Christmas in July Market

Miracle on the Fourth is back, and it’s bringing the Longmont community a little taste of the holiday season in July.

On July 24, Bricks Retail will host the Christmas in July Market beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone, including children.

Jennifer Ferguson, owner of Bricks Retail, explained this event is a way to get people shopping downtown and locally. The first Miracle on the Fourth occurred last November, this time Ferguson added activities that will include the entire family.

“There will be a bounce house, face painting and Santa will be here in his Hawaiian shirt, so anyone can take a photo with Santa. We are gonna have a DJ, we have added some music. We have added some craft activities with a couple of groups that will be attending,” Ferguson said.

Some groups attending include, I Am a Maker, a local non-profit, and Zone Tool, which is a Longmont based company that makes kids toys.

Ferguson noticed that there tends to be a focus on shopping locally only around the holidays. The most common feedback Ferguson received from vendors and customers at last November’s Miracle on Fourth is that this event needs to happen more often. This led Ferguson to bring the event into July as well.

“So we’re trying to spread out the holiday rush. There will be Christmas items like ornaments and pillows and Christmas themed items. But then there will be all kinds of other gift items, and fun things to buy and fun things to eat. The idea of Christmas in July was to come down and do some shopping,” Ferguson said.
