Longmont Public Media Outdoor Cinema Presents Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Longmont Public Media, or LPM, is hosting an outdoor cinema experience. 

LPM is showing classic movies at their outdoor cinema stadium. On August 6, LPM will show the 80s classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. 

The movies will be projected in the Longmont Public Library Pavilion located between the Longmont Public Library and the Longmont Public Media building. 

The movie will begin at dusk. Please bring a chair or a blanket, as there will be no seating provided. 

Snacks will be available at the event, including kettle corn which will be solde by Scream Colorado.

Drop-In Teen Gaming Club at the City of Longmont Public Library  

Every Thursday in June and July from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. compete, cooperate, and collaborate on our Nintendo Switch featuring a selection of games for 4-8 players. This drop-in program will be held in our newly renovated teens-only space. All levels of gamers are welcome. The event will be  In-person in the Teen Space, no registration necessary! It is exclusive to 6th-12th graders. 

Adults creative nights at the City of Longmont Public Library: Rock Mandalas

From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Explore your meditative Zen and creative side with creating your own rock mandalas. Have a special rock? Bring it in and have fun! Learn about the meaning of mandalas from different cultures along the way. Registration is required. Register here. Only 15 spots are available.

Scott Von live at Bootstrap Brewing

Free outdoor concerts at the Longmont Museum: Hazel Miller & The Collective 

Free outdoor concerts are held in the Longmont Museum’s outdoor grassy courtyard from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lawn chairs and blankets welcome. Alcohol and concessions available for sale (only alcohol purchased on site is allowed). The Hazel Miller Band has toured North America, Europe, the Far East, Middle East, and Central America. Hazel is always backed by some of the finest musicians and vocalists in the world. Drop-In Family Story Time at the City of Longmont Public Library 

The event begins at 10 a.m. and consists of a 30-minute Friday fun storytime designed for children of all ages and their grown-ups! This storytime will include longer picture books, so expect a little more sitting and listening. Silly singing and movement will also be included. Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Mrs. Nezbitt & Loudhouse at the Times Collaborative

From 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Soundpost Sessions presents Jazz at The Times: An upscale, New York jazz club-style experience at The Times Collaborative in Downtown Longmont. Join us for an evening of jazz featuring the Charles Blenzig Trio, with Hunter Roberts on bass and Harold Summey on drums.. A menu of small plates imagined by chef Rising Tiger will be available by table service as well as signature cocktails by Abbott & Wallace Distilling and a selection of wine and beer. Two seatings (7pm and 9pm) are available. Charles Blenzig is a pianist, composer, arranger, producer, and percussionist who slips effortlessly among musical styles while retaining his own distinct sound. Born in the Bronx and coming of age in the late 70s, he had the good fortune to learn his craft from the masters in Manhattan Jazz clubs where knowledge was passed on in the traditional way, by ear.

LOCO Ukulele Jam with Brian Rezac! At Bootstrap Brewing  

Every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bootstrap Brewing hosts a Ukulele jam. Whether you want to learn how to play the Ukulele or already do and want to join the fun, wipe off your uke and join in- it's blast! Host Brian Rezac has extras you can borrow. Or, just come enjoy a beer and watch. All ages and levels are welcome.

Summer Art Camp with Miss B and Tangle Turtle Art at Firehouse Art Center

Tangle Turtle Art Summer Camp week #4 will run from August 1 to August 5, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All Tangle Turtle Art camp weeks will be exploring General Art: painting, drawing, calligraphy, zentangle, fibers, collage/mixed media, and Origami. We will supply everything you need to dive into the foundations of drawing and painting, to explore calligraphy and zentangle, to sew a pocket pet, create friendship bracelets and a woven owl, to a collage with mixed media, and fold Origami. All Tangle Turtle Art camp weeks will have different projects and themes! There will be project skill levels for all age groups from 5 to 15-years-old. Drop-In Bilingual Storytime at the City of Longmont Public Library 

On Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. join us for stories and songs in Spanish and English for children of all ages! All aged children with a grown-up are welcome, but this storytime is best for 3 years and older. Meet us in the Library's Meeting Rooms, located by the West/Kimbark Street Entrance.

Open Mic with Denny Driscoll at Bootstrap Brewing

August 2 

Guided Hike in Rocky Mountain National Park hosted by Angles Sports Ski, Board and Fly Fishing Shop 

Join us on a hiking adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park. Learn about the flora, fauna, geography, and other great locations in the park and around CO. Be prepared to hike 2-4 miles and see receipt for what you need to pack. Price is per day and includes admission to Rocky Mountain National Park. Meet in Estes Park at 10 a.m. and is expected to end at 1 p.m. More details will be distributed on receipt once booked. The event will cost $120 for residents and $150 for non-residents. 

The Historic Westside Neighborhood Association's Annual Potluck Picnic will be on National Night Out

From 5 p.m. to10 p.m. on August 2, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.  We'll have Police and Fire Dept representatives come, to give some safety tips and answer any questions you may have. It's a great time to ask questions of our Police and Fire people. All neighbors and families are invited.  I’ll get a food sign-up list created and send it out beforehand, for food and supplies.  Bring a dish, refreshments, paper goods; or whatever you choose.  If anyone would like to bring a grill, games, and equipment to play or some music for entertainment; you are more than welcome to bring these things.  Reply with any questions.  We'll be holding elections for President, Vice-President,  Secretary, and Treasurer of the Historic Westside Neighborhood Group.

Intro to Paddle Boarding Class

The class will meet at Flanders Park on the North Side of Lake McIntosh from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class will be taught by Dakota Serrette, Matt Burditt, and Nathan Otteman. This class is for the total beginner who has little or no experience with SUPing. We will cover: Hard boards vs Inflatables. The differences between a cheap SUP and a quality one. Differences with paddles. How to transport your SUP. How to enter the water. How to mount your board. How to stand up. Where to go and the Colorado safety regulations you must abide by. Basic safety and emergency skills. We will provide Paddleboards and PFDs, but if you have your own equipment it is recommended to bring your own. The class will cost $65 for residents or $81.25 for non-Residents.  

Trivia with Big Bob at Bootstrap Brewing! 

Come play trivia with Big Mouth Bob and Quizmaster Entertainment from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at our Longmont Taproom. The winning team wins a round of beer!

Wednesday Evening Jazz at Dry Land Distillers 

Join Dry Land Distillers from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an evening of live jazz on the first Wednesday of the month. Led by local musician Vic Dillihay, these sessions are low-key, instrumental performances that showcase many established and up-and-coming young musicians. The mixology team designs weekly cocktail specials to pair with the music. We'll also offer sweet and savory treats from different farms, chefs and caterers to enjoy. Depending on weather, shows might be hosted on the outdoor patio. Get here early - seating is limited!

August 4 

Social Emotional Circle Time for 3 to 5-year-olds at City of Longmont Public Library

Every Thursday in June and July from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is geared towards kids aged 3 to 5-years-old and their caregivers. Identifying and controlling big emotions can be hard, especially for young children! Kid Connects In the Neighborhood, a program through Mental Health Partners, will be partnering with the Longmont Library to provide a space for children and caregivers to learn how to identify big emotions and discuss ways to manage those feelings. This will be a fun interactive time for us all to explore and express our feelings! No registration necessary and Spanish translation available. For more information click here.

Front deRanged Comedy Show at 224 Main Street

We're back! The Front deRanged Improv Comedy Troupe is back by popular demand (we think) on the Jesters Dinner Theatre stage for another night of hilarious improvisational comedy. We take audience suggestions and use them to help guide each amazing scene we perform and every side-splitting...or cringe-worthy joke we tell. Leave the kids at home and bring your best suggestions for this adult show! Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30, and food and drinks are available. The Annual Boulder County Fair Parade at Roosevelt Park 

August 6, at 10 a.m., starting at Roosevelt Park at 700 Longs Peak Avenue. The call is out for clubs, organizations, and others to become part of the BC Fair Parade and they are asking for entries..  This year’s theme for the 153-year-old parade is “Meet Me Back At The Fair!” said Ken White, the year’s organizers of the parade on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Longmont.
