Want to upgrade your social game? Longmont Public Media is clearing out their studio and partnering with artists from the Firehouse Art Center to create fun, perfectly lit sets that you can walk right into, pose with, and post to all your socials. Vendors and a food truck will also be there, providing more fun and refreshments in between shots. Just stop by Longmont Public Media starting at 6 PM on August 11th.
The Boulder County Fair will return this year from Aug 11-14. We will be returning with many of the fun events and activities you remember from fairs past. We will be bringing back the carnival, live entertainment in the Fair Garden, Kid’s Corral and Petting Zoo and your favorite fair foods, along with 4-H animal projects, the Dairy Bar will be open for business and at this time we plan on a return to a live in-person junior livestock sale!

The Sunrise Stampede is a family-oriented 5K run/walk with a 1 mile fun run that has raised $270,000+ for student programs in St. Vrain Valley Schools. All net proceeds support Special Education Teacher Innovation Grants. These grants are awarded to teachers who have innovative ideas to enhance learning for students.

Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (D.E.A.R.) is probably the cutest program at the Library! This free program is designed for new readers and kids who want to practice their reading with a non-judgmental, furry audience a.k.a. a trained therapy dog.
Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our friendly dogs. Parents, guardians and siblings are welcome to read to or help newer readers.
No registration is necessary, but please check-in with the staff member at the event to get on the list to read, sometimes there is a little wait. We will have a selection of books on hand to read or you can bring your own!

On August 18th, pick your favorite song and dress as your favorite pop star as Longmont Public Media opens up its stage for karaoke night. Sing and dance on the same stage that local musicians perform live and record albums on. The event will also be recorded for our public access channel. Local vendors will be there to add to the fun, and the event is BYOB. Come to sing, dance, and show off your tribute to your favorite pop stars. Sunset Golf Course will celebrate its 100th birthday with a ParTee at the clubhouse on Thursday, August 18 from 5–8 pm. The event is free, open to the public, and will include family-friendly food, games, giveaways and live music by Old’s Cool Rock.
The first 200 guests will enjoy free hotdogs and chips. Additional food and beverages, as well as commemorative 100-year anniversary merchandise, will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The Sunset clubhouse is located at 1900 Longs Peak Avenue, Longmont, Colorado. Free parking will be available in the adjacent Sunset Pool parking lot and the pool will be closed for the event. Due to construction, parking will be limited along Longs Peak Avenue, and the sidewalk will be closed east of the course.

Performing live this Thursday at Longmont Public Media will be Laurie Michelle and her duo Beautiful Humans. She will be performing her original folk music, some classic covers, and maybe even some dad jokes. Performance starts shortly after 6 PM and local vendors will be there with food, drinks, and more fun. Concert will be recorded for Longmont Public Media.

Boulder Voices For Children (BVFC)
Colorado’s second oldest court appointed special advocate (CASA) program for vulnerable youths in the judicial system, has announced its annual fundraising gala, Night of Hope, will be taking place from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Boulder JCC (6007 Oreg Ave., Boulder, CO 80303).
The Colorado Casual-themed event will feature Colorado-based cuisine by Greens Point Catering, locally made brews and spirits, live entertainment by local acts the Hummin’ Birds and The Intolerables, a photo station provided by The ShutterBus VW Photo Booth Bus, and an engaging program including a paddle raiser emceed by popular auctioneer Debbie Scheer from The Gala Team.
“Night of Hope is BVFC’s annual gala where we gather to celebrate the wonderful work our volunteers provide for youths in our community,” said Steve Callander, interim CEO. “We look forward to celebrating the next chapter of growth for our organization and raising funds to continue to support children across Boulder County,” he added.

More about the film: Most people have heard that the United States is the most incarcerated country in the world, but often overlooked is the particular impact incarceration has on women.
TRI has been partnering behind the scenes to create a full length documentary about the cycle of trauma and incarceration, looking specifically at how women, families, and communities are hit the hardest. We will watch a 'short' version of the work-in-progress and offer a talk back with the film director, impacted women, and community leaders working with and within the department of corrections.
