Longmont's first senior living tour will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission will be free and busing options from the Longmont Senior Center will also be provided.
Brian Miller, sales manager for Brookdale Longmont, spoke to the Longmont Observer and stated that after years of participating in the senior tour in Boulder, it was too hard to get seniors from Longmont to Boulder and back.
"So last year we sat down and talked about maybe it would be time to break off and do our own," said Miller.
The tour on Saturday will visit nine senior living communities in Longmont: AltaVita, Brookdale Longmont, Bross Street, MillBrook Homes, Hover Senior Community, The Peaks Care Center, The Bridge at Longmont, and Cinnamon Park.
“One of the things that’s really neat about it is it really gives the seniors a sense that this isn’t about competition between communities but rather what is the better fit for each family,” said Miller.
"It's about what's the better senior living spot for each of these potential residents."
In addition to providing refreshments, a stamp-your-own passport program will also be held throughout the tour. Each senior will be given a passport booklet and can get it stamped at each community. As they get a stamp, they will enter a raffle to win a prize at each location. Collecting all of the stamps will enter them to win a grand prize.
