Daylight savings is the practice of setting your clocks forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall.
The idea was proposed in 1895 by George Hudson. In 1916, the German Empire and Austria-Hungary implemented the first nationwide practice of Daylight Savings Time (DST).
Not all areas of the world observe DST. Asia and Africa do not as well as regions along the equator.
