On Saturday, October 6, the Longmont Observer and the League of Women Voters Boulder County co-hosted a midterm debate between Congressman Ken Buck and Dr. Karen McCormick.

We would like to thank the Longmont Museum for partnering with us and allowing us to use the Stewart Auditorium.

We would like to thank The Longmont Channel for broadcasting and live-streaming the event.

We would like to thank both Congressman Ken Buck and Dr. Karen McCormick for agreeing to the debate and for attending.

Thank you to Longmont Public Safety for providing a medic and security for the event.

Thank you to Treat Snack House for providing a snack for each campaign.

Thank you to the League of Women Voters of Boulder County for your support and volunteers.

I also want to recognize the Longmont Observer volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules and time off work to join us, Matt Steininger, Rick Brennan, Sergio Angeles and Scott Converse. And to the friends who joined us, Ellen Anderson and Julie Bunnell.

A special thanks goes to the moderator for the event, Shakeel Dalal. He asked if the Longmont Observer would like to try to host a debate. From there, he planned and organized a debate that was as close to perfection as could be hoped for. Thank you Shakeel for all of your hard work and for keeping us all organized.

Marcia Martin, Longmont City Council member, found Scott Converse after the debate and said that the debate 'might have been too unbiased'. Since that was our goal, thank you for the compliment Council member Martin.
