Longmont Police Department was contacted by a resident regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Sunshine Avenue between Celestial Lane and WCR 1 around 12:40 p.m. on August 20, 2018.
The resident overheard the accident on the police scanner and was inquiring if the pedestrian survived the incident.
The Longmont Police Department replied with the following statement:
The male has serious injuries and was transported to UC Health Hospital. The male was walking NB across Sunshine when he was struck by the EB sedan which was driven by an adult female. The driver does not have injuries. The traffic unit was called in to investigate. There is no suspected impairment for either person involved.
As a result of the investigation, Sunshine Avenue will be closed "until at least 5 p.m.," states the comment issued by the Longmont Police Department.
The police also state that they will release more information will be released as the investigation continues.
