More than 150 people showed up last Wednesday evening for Longmont's weekly community bike ride, hosted by Longmont Bike Night. The organization is "Colorado's oldest and largest weekly family-friendly cruiser ride," according to the Longmont Bike Night Facebook page. It was founded by Ryan Kragerud more than two decade ago.
Longmont Bike Night aims to foster community by having themes for rides and by encouraging participants to talk with others during the weekly event. The rides are usually around six-miles long and take about one hour. The theme for last week's ride was "Pride," in recognition of June being internationally celebrated as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Longmont. Last week, the Longmont City Council officially declared June as “LGBTQ+ Pride Month” in the City of Longmont.
The weekly rides occur throughout the summer and always meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at Roosevelt Park. The rides are free and family friendly. Weekly updates and themes are posted on the Longmont Bike Night Facebook page.
