Police, via a Facebook post on Tuesday, announced that a sexually violent predator is staying in Longmont.
Russell Scott Ehrlich was convicted of sexual exploitation of a child, possession of material and two counts of sexual assault in Boulder County in 2013. In the same year, he was convicted of sexual assault in Weld County. There was an age difference between Ehrlich and the victim, according to the post.
Colorado law requires police departments to publicly share information about parties determined to be sexually violent predators and post is part of that compliance, police stated.
Police in the post stated “vigilantism, or use of this information to harass, threaten, or intimidate this offender is criminal behavior and will not be tolerated.”
There are currently 19,942 registered sex offenders in the state of Colorado, 342 of whom are classified as sexually violent predators. There are currently 296 registered sex offenders in the city of Longmont, of those, five are classified as sexually violent predators, according to the post.
