On Saturday, December 8, the Longmont Optimist Club and the Longmont Police Department teamed up for their annual Shop With a Cop event.
This year, Wyatt's Liquor Wet Goods and the Longmont Optimist Club organized the event and raised "a significant amount of money to help families enjoy Christmas," states Jeff Satur, deputy chief of police services.
Shop With a Cop is an annual event where local children in need are able to go to a local store with a police officer and shop for their loved ones. This year the 30 young shoppers grazed the shelves of the Walmart located at 2514 Main St.
Satur, himself, expressed gratitude toward the Walmart store and appreciated that "they had special lines for everybody to check out."
Following all the shopping fun, officers spent the afternoon helping their little shoppers make their gifts ready to be placed under the tree. "The wrapping is the hard part but it is also really fun," says Satur.
