Preschoolers across St. Vrain Valley Schools will be participating in Young Athletes Field Day events in May, a celebration of movement, teamwork and everything they’ve learned through play this year.
The Young Athletes Program, developed by Special Olympics, introduces children ages 2–7— with and without disabilities—to basic sports skills and physical activities. It’s designed to build motor development, confidence and early teamwork, all through fun and engaging experiences that meet early learning goals.
Throughout the year, preschool teachers at eight St. Vrain schools have led Young Athletes activities twice a week, using free equipment kits and lesson guides. The program also includes storybooks and family engagement materials that help extend learning beyond the classroom.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their progress during special Field Day events at each school. Every child receives a t-shirt, certificate and medallion to celebrate their participation.
