The Sunset Pool will reopen its doors on Monday. But before breaking out the sunscreen and towels, would-be swimmers need to head to their computers and make reservations.

The pool, 1900 Longs Peak Ave., will be open by reservation only, and because of capacity limits reservations must be made for all ages, including small children, the city announced Wednesday afternoon. Reservations can be made starting today via the rec.ci.longmont.co.us activity registration portal by selecting the “COVID” category from the search options. Users also can use the friendly quick link bit.ly/sunsetcovid to find available reservations.

Initial reservations will be for one-hour lap swimming and aquatic fitness classes for adults 16  and older, and two-hour blocks for open swim time for all-ages, according to the city.

Registration also is now being accepted for swimming lessons beginning the week of June 29 at Sunset Pool. For more information about swim lessons and aquatics fitness programs, visit longmontcolorado.gov/swim.

The opening of Sunset Pool comes on the heels of the Recreation Center and Centennial Pool reopening on Monday, also on a reservation-only basis.

As with the phased reopening of the rec center and Centennial Pool, Sunset Pool users will be asked to follow the general COVID-19 best practices guidelines including maintaining  feet of distance from others, wearing a mask when not in the water, refraining from gathering, and exiting the facility promptly at the end of their reservation, the city stated in a post to its website

If no orders to the contrary are issued by the state or Boulder County Public Health,  Sunset Pool will remain open through Sept. 13, according to the city.

General guidelines for visiting Sunset Pool outlined by the city are:
