If you’re thinking of running for public office in 2022, time is almost up to make sure your voter registration records match the political party you plan to run under.

The deadline to change party affiliation with the state of Colorado is Jan. 3.

Interested parties need only visit the Colorado Secretary of State’s website to update their party affiliation. This not only affects candidate affiliation, but also determines what ballot a voter receives during primary elections.

Aspiring candidates can affiliate themselves with any political party or declare themselves unaffiliated.

Offices on the ballot for the 2022 midterm election include open seats in the U.S. Senate and Congress, State Senate and House of Representatives and the Colorado Governor seat.
