Ascent at Hover Crossing is a new family-friendly affordable housing community under construction at 2225 18th Ave. in Longmont, Colorado. The community will offer 75 units for families and individuals that make up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) as well as an onsite Early Childhood Education (ECE) center for income-qualified families. The community is being developed through a partnership between the Longmont Housing Authority (LHA) and Pennrose with funding from the City of Longmont and other local, state and national partners.

A first-come, first-serve online waitlist for interested tenants in project-based vouchers will open on September 8, 2025. A separate first-come, first-serve online waitlist for tenants interested in affordable units will open on September 15, 2025. Anyone interested in receiving information on the waitlist process or property is encouraged to sign up for emails at bit.ly/ascent-interest and to visit the Ascent page at longmonthousing.org.

Ascent at Hover Crossing will include 21 one-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom, 21 three-bedroom and 6 four-bedroom units that include full kitchens and in-unit washers/dryers. Other amenities include a standalone community center, fitness room, indoor play area and outdoor playground. The community will support sustainability goals set by both Longmont and Colorado by being 100% electricity powered. In addition, solar panels will benefit tenants through reduced energy bills.

The onsite Early Childhood Education (ECE) center will include its own secure indoor and outdoor play areas, reception area, office space, conference rooms and kitchen area. The center will be managed by the Wild Plum Center, a long-standing local provider of high-quality early childhood programs. These programs will be available to any qualified interested families living at Ascent as well to income-qualified families in the surrounding Longmont community. Please note that enrollment for the ECE is a separate process from the application to the apartments. Families interested in the childcare center should visit wildplumcenter.org/enrollment.

“One truly unique aspect of this beautiful new community is the built-in Early Childhood Education center,” said Housing and Community Investment Division Director, Molly O'Donnell. “The benefit to families of having larger sized, family-friendly apartments with such high-quality care right next door is immeasurable.”
