On Saturday afternoon, the Broomfield Police Department posted on X to alert residents that there was a large police presence at the intersection of Highway 287 and Midway Boulevard due to officers investigating a stabbing, which reportedly occurred around 3:30 p.m. When the police posted on X at 4:43 p.m., they reported that a black Dodge Durango was involved, one person was injured, and one suspect had been arrested.
All northbound lanes of Highway 287 were closed north of Midway for about two hours. Police asked any witnesses of the accident to call the department's non-emergency line at 303-438-6400.
On the same evening at around 7:30 p.m., the department reported that the victim of the alleged stabbing was released from the hospital. “Victim is going to be ok,” the department said on X.
9News reported that the man who was taken into custody after the stabbing was questioned and released without charges. The investigation into what prompted the stabbing is still ongoing.
